Architectural Photography
conservationworks:images
Photographic imagery in conservation is an invaluable tool. With the advent of digital technology, it is an immediate, detailed and truthful record of a building and its features, configuration, materials and planform at a given moment in time. Good photography can be used to assist in the identification of building pathology without the need for frequent onsite visits by expensive professionals, to inform planning and listed building consent applications and to provide evidence of alterations and progress for building control, grant-aiding bodies and other interested parties and to assist with the specification of repairs and compilation of maintenence schedules.
But good buildings recording by photography is more of a science than an art. Moody, shadowy and contrasty images make good art but poor records. Knowing what, when and how to photograph buildings and their important details is the essence of architectural photographic record.
A photographic record should always be made before and after works of alteration or partial or full demolition, and we would be happy to work with your team on a project basis as required.
Building Histories
A full-colour illustrated Building History of your historic property makes an excellent fund-raising item, and can be specially bound for presentation to significant people associated with the school- especially to mark notable anniversaries, or to mark achievement (head boy/girl) or recognition of exceptional service.
