Understanding Maps

 

A one day intensive seminar led by an historic maps specialist which will demystify
the interpretation of a variety of early, Tithe and Ordnance Survey maps to help with
tracing the origins and development of historic sites. Examples of Urban, Suburban and Rural sites will be used. Bring your own examples for interpretation.

Run in conjunction with the Bootcamp, the Lime Day can be attended as a one-day stand alone event. Firmly focusing on the practical use and application of lime mortars and renders in remedial works, internal and external, including 3-coat plastering and repointing. Hands-on work, expect to get dirty.

Intensive 4 day residential or semi-residential training programme focused on practical skills needed for conservation-friendly repair and maintenance regimes for historic buildings and sites. For Maintenance Supervisors and staff responsible for the management of institutional buildings portfolios.

Taking Care

September 2009

Foundation course for Estates Managers and senior Estates staff responsible for day to day maintenance and repair of historic and listed buildings, structures and landscapes.

By Invitation Only events are one-of-a-kind, money-can't-buy happenings for small groups of invited guests to observe or perhaps even take part in specialist conservation projects with limited access. Please email us with BIO in the subject line to be added to the guest list.

Previous BIO events have included a tour of a paintings conservator's workshops, a visit to major conservation repair works at Greys Court Henley on Thames and the major conservation programme at Apethorpe Hall in Northamptonshire.
